Q. What is CougarPrint?

A. In short, CougarPrint is a full toolset to support printing activities of IU Kokomo Students, Faculty, Staff, and visitors in the Student Technology Centers. It's main component is the the GoPrint print management software, which allows users to manage how many pages are printed, and the costs associated with printing. Other parts of the CougarPrint service include printers in the Student Technology Centers, the campus print server, and tools for wireless printing like the IU Printer Finder. Lastly, CougarPrint is a set of rules that govern Printing: quotas, prices, purses and refunds.

Q. How many pages can I print with my CougarPrint quota?

A. That depends on what you print. With CougarPrint, students will be given a semester quota of $26.00 (summer sessions are combined as one semester.) Each black and white printed page deducts 4 cents from your balance. Color printed pages deduct 25 cents. Copying is not supported from your quota purse.

Q. In the GoPrint Software, what is a purse?

A. A purse is an account that holds value for users to "pay for printing." Your quota purse is where we deposit your $26.00 quota value. A student employee may have a credit purse to "pay" for job related printing. Students who purchase extra printing value will have an allowance purse called "Paid Pages."

Q. How do I add value to a purse?

A. Students can add value to a purse by using the "Cash to Account" machine in the Library Copy Room. Simply login to the machine with your IU Network ID and Passphrase, then insert a bill. The value will be added to your account, and you will receive a receipt. We recommend you don't carry more than a $5.00 balance in the system in your paid pages purse. No refunds will be given for balances in the GoPrint system when a student separates from the University.

Q.When releasing a print job, what purse should I use?

A. That is up to you. CougarPrint empowers you to make the decision. The Quota purse supports printing only. The 'paid pages' purse supports printing and copying.

Q.What situations warrant a refund (printing & copying)?

A. Situations where the printing or copying hardware releases an unreadable or unusable page warrant a refund. Please visit the Computer Services Helpdesk if you think you have encountered this situation.
