Master of Public Management

Our Program

Our Master of Public Management degree (M.P.M.) is a program designed to prepare our students for executive leadership positions in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. We combine quality academics with individual attention from dedicated faculty. Our students work and interact with our school's leading professors in small classroom settings that provide a unique relationship-based learning environment. Our program provides students with the skills to cope with challenging human and technical issues as public service managers. It also provides a broad interdisciplinary background in the values and ethics of public and health care management.

While the degree is housed in the School of Business for administrative purposes, it is exempt from AACSB review due to its relatively low level of business content.

What to expect

In the classroom

The M.P.M. program can be completed on either a full-time or part-time basis. Most coursework for the program is offered in the evenings to allow students to work full time and participate in the M.P.M. program part time. To meet the needs of our diverse student population, the program delivers graduate courses in a variety of ways: online, on campus, and hybrid. The core classes within the M.P.M. program are regularly offered on a rotating basis during the fall and spring semesters. The courses for each of the two M.P.M. tracks are offered on a rotating basis during the summer semesters.

Outside the classroom

What can you expect? Expect to be challenged. Our M.P.M. program will take you out of the classroom where you will put those in-class skills to the test with the Practicum in Public Affairs course. Why is this so important? Because learning doesn’t simply come from a course or a textbook, learning comes from doing.

The program offers two distinct tracks for you to choose from: Public Management and Policy or Health Management. You may also elect to pursue a double track in both Public Management and Policy and Health Management.
