Information Literacy Classrooms

When the Library’s Information Literacy Classrooms are not scheduled for library classes and activities, the rooms may be scheduled for use by faculty and staff for the primary purpose of instruction or training sessions for which instructor and student workstations are needed. The Information Literacy Classrooms are not available for semester-long reservations.

Information Literacy Classroom configuration:

  • Information Literacy Classroom 1 (Room #144) has seating and table space for 24 students, which includes 14 student computer workstations, an instructor workstation, a document camera, and a digital projector.
  • Information Literacy Classroom 2 (Room #148) has 24 student computer workstations, an instructor workstation, a document camera, and a digital projector.
  • Wireless Internet access is available in both rooms.

Guidelines for Information Literacy Classroom use:

  • During the first 10 weeks of each semester, only one classroom will be available for scheduling so that one room will be available for information literacy instruction.
  • The Library regards the last week of classes and final exams week as a quiet study period for students. Every attempt is made to maintain the library as a space conducive to preparation for the end of semester papers and examinations. The rooms will not be scheduled for library instruction or other uses during these time periods except with approval of the Dean of the Library.
  • When not reserved, the Information Literacy Classrooms function as open computer labs for student use.

To schedule a classroom, please use the Library Room Scheduling Form. Your request will be acknowledged within three business days. (Note: If you would like to schedule an information literacy instruction session with a librarian, please use our online Information Literacy Session Request Form rather than the Library Room Scheduling Form.

Media Viewing Area

The media viewing area is located on the first floor near Room KA128 and includes equipment to view non-print media resources. Please direct questions about the equipment to the librarians at the Research Help desk.

Computers

The Library features a Learning Commons concept, and computers are located throughout the library for individual and group use. All computers in the library require authorized Indiana University logins. Members of the public may use library computers to access our resources through Computer Guest Accounts. Please see Library Resources for Visitors for more details.

Copiers/Printers

All copying and printing in the library is fee-based. Money may be added to a student account at the Circulation desk.
