Criminal Justice

Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice

Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at IU Kokomo will receive the best of two worlds: an education in the liberal arts tradition where students learn to reason and to think critically and an education grounded in experiential learning. Criminal justice majors take courses that introduce them to diverse areas of the criminal justice system, teach them to apply problem solving skills to real issues in criminal justice, and allow them to explore a variety of criminal justice careers. Students are encouraged to participate in internships and/or research practicums where they gain practical experience and meet professionals in the field. Students will have the opportunity to meet with criminal justice practitioners and participate in local, state, and national events with the two criminal justice student-led organizations on campus.

Students with a degree in criminal justice have the opportunity to enter the workforce in a variety of careers including law enforcement, corrections, victim advocacy, homeland security, emergency management, and loss prevention. Graduates of our program may choose to further their education by pursuing graduate degrees in criminal justice/criminology, social work, sociology, and law.
