Kristen Snoddy, Head CoachKristen Snoddy was named the first IU Kokomo head women’s volleyball coach in March of 2011. Originally from Michigan, Coach Snoddy received her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University in physical education and English with a coaching emphasis. She moved to the Kokomo area in 1980 for an English and coaching position at Northwestern Middle School in western Howard County. In 1982 she earned her M.A. degree in English from Michigan State University. Over the past thirty years, she has coached numerous teams at both the middle school and high school level including track, basketball and volleyball. She also devoted several years to developing youth volleyball in the area as a coach for the local YMCA and as director of Northwestern School Corporation’s summer camp. Snoddy began teaching part-time at IU Kokomo in the fall of 1990. For the past nine years she has been a full-time English Lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2008. She also directs the Writing Center and oversees the adjunct English instructors. She is a dedicated teacher having twice earned the Amicus Award in addition to the Trustees Teaching Award and being inducted into FACET, Indiana University’s recognition for excellence in teaching. She welcomes the challenge of developing an intercollegiate volleyball program from the ground up and finds tremendous satisfaction with the student/athlete interactions such a program provides. |
